Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see your question here, contact us.

How do I choose the right starting course? Link
Use our levels: Beginner covers fundamentals like exposure, lenses, and safe handling. Intermediate assumes set familiarity and dives into lighting ratios and movement. Advanced addresses complex lighting, color workflow, and collaboration with departments. When in doubt, share a reel or sample scene via the contact form for guidance.
Do I need my own camera or lights? Link
No. Exercises are designed to be completed with rental or borrowed gear as well. We focus on principles that translate across brands and budgets. If you do have a kit, we show how to adapt drills to your tools.
What is the schedule and pacing like? Link
Courses are asynchronous with optional live critique windows. Expect 2–4 hours of work per week. Some workshops run intensives with back-to-back practice days, clearly marked in the catalog.
Do you issue certificates? Link
Yes. Upon completion of required assignments and reviews, you’ll receive a digital certificate from Screenwise Atelier that outlines competencies achieved.
What is your refund policy? Link
Full refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if fewer than 20% of materials have been accessed. After that, we may offer partial credits depending on progress and circumstances.
Do you provide accessibility accommodations? Link
Yes. We can adjust pacing, provide transcripts and descriptive notes, and adapt assignments. Let us know your needs before or during a course via the contact page.
Which camera brand do you teach? Link
We are brand-agnostic and emphasize transferable methods. Exposure, lighting logic, and set etiquette work across ecosystems, which we demonstrate in case studies.
Who reviews my assignments? Link
Working professionals from our team—cinematographers, gaffers, and editors—give feedback. We avoid generic checklists and write notes like we would on set.
Are there live sessions? Link
Optional live critique and Q&A windows run monthly. We announce dates inside each course and in reminder emails.
